Nearly 1,000 local high school students got together Thursday to learn about a possible career in construction.
It's the 15th annual construction career day at the Monroe County Fleet Center.
The students come face to face with industrial professionals in interactive booths -- everything from welding and masonry to carpentry. It's all a way to get young people interested in a career in construction.
Executive Director Ken Warner said, “I was involved in the first one 15 years ago where we had just a couple hundred kids and a tent at MCC. Now we have more than 1,000 students from districts throughout the county and the city.”
Unicon was also a sponsor for the event. They specialize in supporting educational opportunities for the next generation of crafts workers.
