Rochester area unemployment numbers released

There was a drop in Rochester’s unemployment rate last month. That’s according to numbers released by the New York State Labor Department Tuesday afternoon.

The unemployment rate in the Greater Rochester Area was 7.9% in September. That’s down from 8.3% in August.

But it’s higher that it was a year ago. The unemployment rate in September 2011 was 7.6%.
