Man rescued after canoe capsized in Erie Canal

A man had to be rescued after his canoe capsized in the Erie Canal.

Emergency crews were called  to the area of Canal Road and Trimmer Road in Spencerport around 3:00pm for a canoe that overturned in the Erie Canal. 

According to Ogden Police, a man was canoeing on the Erie Canal Thursday afternoon when his canoe capsized.

An Ogden Police officer responded and threw the man a line and pulled him to shore. The man was treated at the scene and released. Emergency crews were concerned about hypothermia but the man was okay.
