The FAIR Election Practices Committee has ruled that both Assemblyman Sean Hanna and Monroe County Legislator Ted O’Brien have violated the Fair Campaign Pledge.
Both men are running for the 55th Senate District – a seat previously held by Jim Alesi.
On October 17, O’Brien filed a claim regarding a TV ad from the Hanna campaign that said Ted O’Brien voted against funding for road and bridge improvement. The Committee ruled that in this instance, Hanna’s campaign did violate the Fair Campaign Pledge.
Three days later, Hanna filed three complaints. Two claims are against a mailer distributed by the O’Brien campaign that said he voted against equal pay for equal work and that Hanna voted to take away a woman’s right to make her own health decisions. The second complaint is in regards to harassing phone calls made on behalf of O’Brien.
The Committee ruled that in this case, O’Brien’s campaign violated the Fair Campaign Pledge.
