Officials at the Webster Fire Department are preparing for the worst that Hurricane Sandy could bring, but they are hoping for the best.
On Sunday afternoon, firefighters were busy getting ready to tackle everything from flooding to downed power lines and tree limbs. Fire Chief Craig Akins says he hopes people take the storm warning seriously.
"You hear this all the time when the weather service comes with this and that and after while it's crying wolf," says Chief Akin. "People don't take it seriously. We're hoping they do, this could be a serious storm. I've been in contact with your Kevin Williams and he said don't get too crazy but please be prepared."
Chief Akins says his department is also paying special attention to potential flooding and erosion along the shore of Lake Ontario. Sunday, county officials issued a warning to shore residents to prepare for potential flooding along the lake.
