County Executive Maggie Brooks orders evacuations of 2,200 homes near Lake Ontario

County Executive Maggie Brooks has ordered the evacuations of 2,200 homes. The homes are located near Lake Ontario. The evacuations are from Hamlin to the Wayne County.
Town of Greece Supervisor John Auberger has executed an order declaring a State of Emergency in the town in response to lake flooding that is anticipated to occur Monday night.
Mayor Tom Richards has also ordered the evacuation of 70 homes in the city of Rochester.
Residents who are unsure if they're in the evacuation area should call (585) 428-5990.
Residents are encouraged to seek shelter at friends or relatives homes or to take advantage of the American Red Cross shelter that has been established at Greece Olympia High School, on Maiden Lane or at the other locations.
Greece Police Chief Todd Baxter and members of the Greece Police Department will begin the evacuation by providing a security presence in the effected area. Once established, officers will begin going door to door to confirm that the evacuation has been communicated to residents and assist residents as needed.
If you are in need of medical transportation please contact Medical Motor Service at 654-7030. RTS buses will be available at the Greece Town Hall for those wishing to be transported to shelter site.
As residents are evacuating they are reminded to make certain to not to forget pets, necessary medications and vital personal information. Residents are reminded to secure their homes and cars. The Greece Police Department will provide a security presence in the area throughout the duration of the storm.
