Local emergency responders are headed to New York City.

The New York State Department of Emergency Services sent out the call Monday for backup white-water rescue crews. The Cayuga Emergency Operations Center deployed swift water rescue teams from Aurelius, Auburn and Owasco. They left for Coney Island Monday night to lend a hand to emergency crews dealing with white-water conditions.

The state could potentially put out calls for more assistance later this week.
