2,200 homes in evacuation area along Lake Ontario

Mandatory evacuations were issued along Lake Ontario Monday evening but some people decided to ride it out.

More than 2,200 homes were in the evacuation area along the shoreline including 70 homes within City limits in Charlotte.

Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks ordered the evacuation around 8:30 p.m. saying authorities took that precaution to keep homeowners safe.
