Man sentenced for failing to register as a sex offender

A man who was convicted of failing to register as a sex offender in New York State was sentenced to 24 months in prison.
Dean George Birdsall, 68, was convicted of failing to register as a sex offender in New York State. Birdsall, a convicted sex offender, fled the State of Ohio in July 2007. He eventually traveled to Rochester where he lived and worked for several years under an assumed name and failed to register as a sex offender. In August 2010, Birdsall was located and arrested by a federal fugitive task force.
Birdsall will serve this sentence following the completion of a related sentence in Ohio for escape.
