Women from all backgrounds came together on Friday for the Latinas Unidas Recognition Awards Luncheon. The luncheon honored Latina women who have made a significant impact on the Rochester community. Latinas Unidas has been in Rochester since 1993. Board member Joann Santos says it has helped women from all across the city.
"Really Latinas Unidas is about helping each individual woman reach their potential," says Santos. "Or at least pioneer something new. So for many women they've been able to do that with the support of Latinas Unidas."
One of the women honored during the event was Daisy Rivera Algarin, whose term as board chairwoman ended this year. Santos will take over for Algarin as chair of the board.
The luncheon was emceed by News10NBC's own Joangel Concepcion. For more information on Latinas Unidas, you can visit their website by clicking here.
