Never mind the channel flipping. Those trying to keep track of the election results that gave President Barack Obama a second term in the White House last night were able to use a variety of sources figure out what was going on.
Many news junkies turned to social media sites for updates on how the results unfolded even as they got updates from the major news networks on TV. While many of the individual networks were slow to call the race for the incumbent, those second-screening the news online could see that things were falling Obama's way a lot earlier than those viewers who stuck with a single TV outlet.
As the anchors hemmed and hawed over calling results, those using Twitter posts and Facebook updates shared what they had been hearing about results providing a broader perspective on what was happening.
