Salvatore Mitrano appointed to chief of Rochester Fire Department

Rochester Fire Department's acting fire chief is now a permanent addition to the department.

Mayor Tom Richards announced Friday that Salvatore Mitrano has been appointed as permanent chief.

Mitrano took over as interim chief when Former Chief John Caufield retired to take a job with the National Fire Protection Association in April.

Mitrano has been with the Rochester Fire Department for 25 years
