A Buffalo man who robbed five banks in three months is headed to prison.
The U.S. Attorney's Office in Buffalo says 31-year-old Michael Makolinski was sentenced Tuesday to 15 years.
Prosecutors say Makolinski went on a bank-robbery spree from October to December of 2007, robbing banks from Buffalo to Erie, Pennsylvania including the Fairport Savings Bank in Irondequoit.
In each case, authorities say he covered his face and brandished a black pistol.
He stole a total of about $14,000.
Makolinski confessed in June 2010 after being arrested by Buffalo police.
