Officials welcome new Rochester Fire Department recruits

Rochester's newest firefighter recruits were officially welcomed by the fire department Monday morning.

Mayor Tom Richards and Fire Chief Sam Mitrano welcomed the group during the ceremony at the Public Safety Training Facility on Scottsville Road.

News10NBC learned this class has the highest number of women and minority members in recent memory and also includes five military veterans.

It's the first recruit class since March 2010 and they are scheduled to graduate in May 2013.
