Two people from Livonia were arrested after officials say they stole a shopping cart full of items from the Geneseo Walmart.
The Livingston County Sheriff's Office says 33-year-old Shantel Nilsson and her boyfriend, 42-year-old Manuel Gonzalez, loaded items from the store into their car and drove away.
An investigator followed the suspects and observed Nilsson and Gonzalez switching seats after they were instructed to pull over, with Gonzalez switching from the driver to the passenger seat.
When the suspects pulled over, investigators say they found the pair had stolen hundreds of dollars worth of items from Walmart. Investigators say they also found a used hypodermic needle containing small amounts of heroin and cocaine.
Officials say Gonzalez had a revoked license that was suspended 19 times. Gonzalez is charged with a felony of first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and petit larceny.
Nilsson was charged with petit larceny, criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh-degree.
Gonzalez and Nilsson were arraigned in the Village of Geneseo Court.
Nilsson is being held in the Livingston County Jail on $2,500 bail. Gonzalez is being held without bail.
