The jury in the trial of a Brighton man accused of murdering his former roommate is back deliberating to decide his fate.
Jurors have been deliberating since 9:30 a.m. – this after five hours of deliberations on Thursday.
Police say 23-year-old Maxwell Wyant shot and killed C.J. Schoen last February. Schoen was 21.
The jury has had several questions and also asked for a reading of the testimony from a man named Steve Hartman. News10NBC is told Hartman was also roommates with Wyant and witnessed the shooting.
In closing arguments on Thursday, the prosecution told the jury Wyant intended to kill Schoen, saying he was on the phone with 911 when the defendant shot him in the back.
The defense painted a different picture saying Schoen was high on bath salts when he arrived at the house and out of control.
Lynette Adams is in court and will have the latest on News10NBC at 5 and 6.
