Long time priest of the Diocese of Rochester dies

A priest of the Diocese of Rochester for 58 years has died. Fr. Gerald T. Connor died Friday at the age of 84.
He was ordained a priest on June 5, 1954. After being ordained, Fr. Connor served as an assistant pastor at several churches in the Diocese, including: St. Monica's in Rochester; St. Alphonsus in Auburn; St. Ann's in Hornell; and St. Joseph's in Penfield. He was appointed Director of Vocations and Spiritual Director of Beckett Hall in June 1971. He later served as Pastor at St. Pius Tenth in Chili before retiring in June 1998.
Fr. Connor will lie in state at the Mercy Center on Blossom Road, on Sunday, December 9 from 2:00-7:00 p.m. (followed by evening prayer). He will also lie in state at St. Pius Tenth Church on Chili Road on Monday Dec. 10 from 9:00-10:30 a.m. Bishop Emeritus Matthew H. Clark will preside at his funeral Mass immediately following at St. Pius Tenth.
