DirecTV charging new customers more for sports packages

Watching sports on DirecTV is going to cost more if you are a new customer.
 
DirecTV is now charging new customers an extra $3 per month for a package that includes multiple regional sports networks. This is because DirecTV agreed to pay more for new sports channels provided by competitor Time Warner Cable.
 
The charge quietly went into effect nationally in September with little fanfare.
