Waterloo man who plead guilty to leaving scene of deadly crash to be sentenced Monday

nullA Waterloo man who plead guilty to leaving the scene of a deadly crash will learn his punishment Monday.

John Smith, 53, faces one and a half years to seven years in prison when he is sentenced at 2 p.m.

Witnesses told state police that Smith's truck was involved in the crash that happened on May 21 last year.

Stephen Hiyler of Waterloo, 30, was hit on State Routes 5 and 20 in Waterloo.

Police say they were able to trace the truck to Smith and found it with front end damage.
