Woman shot at Monroe Avenue diner

A 31-year-old Fairport woman is in stable condition after police say she was shot at a restaurant on Monroe Avenue early Sunday morning.

Rochester Police tell News10NBC the woman was inside Gitsis Texas Hots around 3:15 a.m. when she was shot once in the torso. The woman was taken to Strong Hospital where she underwent emergency surgery, and police say she is now in stable condition.

Investigators are still working to determine if the woman was shot on purpose or as a result of an accident.

Officers say they do have a 30-year-old male in custody but have not yet released his name. Police do not believe the suspect and victim knew each other.
