Rush-Henrietta senior Dan Drummond has taken a different path from most of his classmates.
Dan Drummond, Scholar Athlete of the Week, said, "I was home schooled until the 7th grade. My parents taught me good work ethic, I studied hard and I carried that into school."
Dan has adjusted to his school schedule just fine. He carries a 95 average and hopes to pursue a career in finance like his father.
Drummond said, "I'm interested in the stock market. I'm interested in learning more about making investments and stuff like that."
Dan also juggles his academic life with being a three sport varsity athlete. He has played varsity football for four years, while playing basketball and golf for three.
Drummond said, "I can't imagine my life without sports."
He was the center for R-H's football team this season, one of the biggest lines in Section V.
Drummond said, "It was a once and a life time experience to see other 280 pound guys putting people on their butts. It was great to be center."
Dan also plays basketball as a way to keep in shape.
Drummond says, "I'm vocal when I need to be. I lead by my hard work and give 100% and I hope it rubs off on the rest of the team."
Dan is also student body president and enjoys singing. He even performs the national anthem before home football games. A feat that is rarely done by any football player, let alone an offensive lineman. He is part of the R-H singers, and the specialized spectrum choir at school, singing everything from classic music to pop.
Drummond says, "I'm trying to reinvent the position. I'm a renaissance man, yeah."
