nullAn Albion man is in custody after police say he tried to rob a convenience store.

The Albion Police Department says 19-year-old Orlando Hernandez is charged with robbery, menacing, and petit larceny after they say he took $287.00 from the Yellow Goose convenience store on Main Street in Albion.

Investigators say Hernandez had a bandana over his face, and was holding his hand in a way that it appeared he had a handgun.

Officers say they were able to located Hernandez by following footsteps in the snow. Police say they found Hernandez hiding in a closet in a nearby apartment at a nearby residence.

He was arraigned in the Town of Albion court and then taken to Orleans Jail. He is expected to be in court again later this month.
