Congresswoman Slaughter awarding Erie Canal National Heritage grants

Congresswoman Louise Slaughter will hand out checks and awards Wednesday, rewarding organizations for preservation of the Erie Canal and for contributions to education and tourism on the canal.

The Erie Canal National Heritage Corridor is awarding grants to encourage development of tourism and education along the canal. Nine grants in all -- totaling $45,800

The grants will be awarded Wednesday afternoon at the Rochester Museum and Science Center.

Recipients in our area include the Village of Spencerport, the RMSC and the Hoag Library in Albion.
