A man has plead guilty in an incident that left a Rochester Police officer critically injured more than 8 years ago.
The Monroe County District Attorney's Office says James Extale plead guilty to first degree vehicular assault.
In November 2004, Extale was driving drunk when he struck Officer Nicole Cookinham on Galusha Street. Cookinham suffered serious injuries and was never able to return to duty.
Extale was convicted two other times in this case, but the appellate court returned both convictions. The District Attorney's Office says Extale waived his right to further appeal with Thursday's plea.
