Authorities say Interstate 81 is open again in both directions after being closed by a string of accidents just south of Syracuse.

State police say the wrecks happened during a lake-effect snow storm Friday morning in I-81's northbound lanes in the Onondaga County town of Tully, on the Cortland County line 10 miles south of Syracuse.

Troopers tell the Syracuse Post-Standard that at least six tractor-trailers and four cars were involved. They say the only injury known so far is a person reporting chest pain.

Lake-effect snow and high winds have been hitting central New York since Thursday, with more than 20 inches of snow reported in some areas north of Syracuse.
