The former president of a western New York SPCA chapter will have to put in 75 hours of community service and can't be part of an animal organization for a year as a result of a raid on an overcrowded shelter last year.
WGRZ-TV reports that Janet Foisset of Buffalo was sentenced on an evidence tampering charge Thursday in Attica Town Court, east of Buffalo.
Foisset was in charge of the Wyoming County shelter in Attica when it was found to be bursting with more than 500 cats last February.
Shelter manager Susan Davila was charged with animal cruelty but died before her case went to trial.
Authorities accused Foisset of thwarting a hoarding investigation in neighboring Erie County by hiding 200 cats in the Attica shelter's basement.
