The Henrietta Fire District has agreed in principle to provide fire service in West Brighton.
“We are pleased to work with the Henrietta Fire District to serve West Brighton,” said Brighton Town Supervisor William Moehle. “The Henrietta Fire District has a strong reputation for providing excellent service, and this plan will meet our goal of providing the best possible fire and emergency service in West Brighton on a cost effective basis.”
If this plan is approved, the Henrietta Fire District will replace the Rochester Fire Department, which has been serving the area since August 2012. The Rochester Fire Department will continue to provide fire protection and EMS response until the transition is complete which is expected to happen at the latest, Fall 2013.
Moehle says the Town of Brighton remains in litigation with the West Brighton Fire Department and has asked the judge to force the West Brighton Fire Department to turn over the West Henrietta Road fire station and other assets so they can be used to protect the town’s residents.
The Town Board will hold a public hearing on the plan on April 10 and plans to vote to formally adopt the plan at its February 27 board meeting.
