Seven-hundred athletes and coaches from across New York State will be putting their skills to the test at various venues in Rochester on Saturday.

It's all part of the Special Olympics 2013 State Winter Games that kicked off Friday.

Some of Saturday's events include figure skating at Genesee Valley ice rink, skiing competitions at Bristol Mountain, and floor hockey at the Rochester Convention Center.

The event is free and open to the public. Organizers encourage residents to come out and volunteer to cheer. At each venue there will be fan stations where audience members can make signs to cheer on athletes competing in the games.
