One of our Golisano Miracle Children, Grace Esposito, passed away about a week ago and on Sunday afternoon a memorial service was held for her.
17 month-old Grace was the daughter of our friend and former colleague Jennifer Johnson and her husband.
Grace struggled throughout her short life with a congenital diaphragmatic hernia, causing her diaphragm to push up where her lungs and heart should have been.
The memorial service for Grace was held at Asbury First United Methodist Church on East Avenue.
Grace, or “Amazing” Grace as many call her, was given a one in five chance of survival when she was born, but doctors say she defied the odds and thrived.
Grace's parents believe it was because of the tremendous staff at the Golisano Children's Hospital that they were blessed with the time they had with her.
Jennifer even helped with our Golisano Children's Hospital telethon last year because she wants to encourage all of us to help children just like grace.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Esposito family.
