A 21-year-old Rochester man is under arrest after police say he pointed a gun at a Rochester Police officer.

Davon Kendrick is charged with criminal possession of a weapon and menacing of a police officer.

Investigators say officers were called to a large fight on Avenue B near St. Paul Street around 2:45 p.m. Saturday. While en route, officers say they learned one of people possibly involved in the fight was armed with a handgun.

According to police, once officers arrived on the scene, a foot chase began during which, the suspect – Davon Kendrick – turned and pointed a gun at the officers. Officer Samuel Ognibene discharged his weapon twice at Kendrick but did not hit him. Officers say Kendrick dropped the weapon and after a short chase, was taken into custody.

No one was injured.
