A lot has changed in a month for the University of Rochester’s men's basketball team. A month ago, the U of R men were the number one team in the country. The Yellowjackets have lost three of their last four heading into the NCAA tournament this weekend.
The U of R hosts Fitchburg State Saturday night in the opening round.
The past month has been a learning experience for the team as they faced the most difficult part of their schedule.
The team is led by U of R All-American point guard John DiBartolomeo who leads the team in scoring, rebounds, assists and steals. He says although the team has struggled, they are confident and focused on their ultimate goal. “That's the destination -- to win a national championship. That's why we work so hard.”
UR Men's Basketball Coach Flockerzi said, “Sometimes a loss or two late in the season can help you learn and grow and become better and help you move forward it will help you play may be our best basketball.”
The U of R will host Fitchburg State this Saturday in the first round at 8 p.m.
The U of R women will also host an opening round NCAA game Friday night at the Palestra against Emmanuel at 7 p.m.
