A local Olympian added another win to her impressive career this weekend.

Olympic pole vaulting gold medalist and Riga native Jenn Suhr set a women's pole vault indoor record by clearing 16 feet, 5½ inches Saturday at the USA Track & Field Indoor National Championships.

Suhr cleared the bar with plenty to spare on her first attempt. Yelena Isinbayeva of Russia set the previous record last year at 16-5¼.

It is the sixth straight national title for Suhr and her seventh overall.

Suhr won the gold for pole vault in the 2012 London Olympics, beating Cuba’s Yarisley Silva in a tiebreaker.

It was the Riga native’s first Olympic gold after she won silver at the Beijing games four years ago.
