LeRoy Police investigating death of 5-month-old infant

Police in LeRoy are investigating the death of a 5-month-old child from Elba.
Police were called Saturday evening for a report of a fight at 72 Main Street in LeRoy.
When police arrived, they found a 45-year-old woman who appeared to be unconscious and someone was performing CPR on the unresponsive infant. Police assisted with CPR until EMTs arrived. The infant was transported to the hospital, but was pronounced dead at the hospital.
An investigation determined there was no fight and there was a miscommunication at the 911 dispatch center.
A preliminary autopsy failed to determine a cause of death. This investigation is continuing.
