A woman, who has been living in Georgia, has been arrested and charged with arson for a fire at a home on Columbia Avenue in Rochester that happened on New Year's Day 2012.
Kimberly J. Smith, 20, of Macon, Georgia is charged with arson.
On New Year's Day 2012, firefighters were called to Columbia Avenue for a house fire. The fire started on the second floor of the two story home. Everyone got out safety, but the home had to be torn down as a result of the fire.
The Rochester Arson Task Force says Smith became a suspect during their investigation and had been transient between Rochester and Georgia since the fire. Smith was arrested in Gates on an unrelated incident.
Investigators say the fire was the result of a dispute between Smith and the second floor tenant.
