There was a public rally for education held in Livingston County Tuesday night.
Parents, students and faculty, as well as local legislators were all invited to the Geneseo Central School auditorium to learn how budget cuts that have happened over the past two years are impacting schools and what voters can do to change the school tax cap.
Dansville Central School Superintendent Paul Alioto said his district has already had to cut jobs, cut back on extracurricular activities and other programs, all of which he says effects the future of students.
“The loss of aid means fewer opportunities for kids that changes and improve their lives. There's no way to account for lost opportunities,” said Alioto.
Tuesday night's rally featured a presentation by Dr. Rick Timbs, who is a specialist on state aid and the struggles schools face.
