The City of Rochester looks like it’s getting on board with a new, downtown skatepark.
Organizers and design crews met Friday morning to talk about details of the Roc City Skatepark.
The meeting also included professional skateboarders and members of the group "Friends of the Skatepark."
They discussed the funding of the $2-million project which would likely include private sponsors. Right now, the plan is included in the City's 2015 budget.
News10NBC spoke with park designers about the significance of the project. Kanten Russell said, “This is going to be significant not only for Rochester but the whole country. Other projects are competing to get on that scale, but with the land here, the support here, this is going to be one of the most significant parks in the country."
Once it’s complete, the Roc City Skatepark would be the largest skatepark in North America.
