Here in Rochester local Catholics finally got a chance to celebrate the new pope together.

Catholics gathered at Sacred Heart Cathedral on Flower City Park Sunday night for a special mass to pray for their new leader.

Father Salmon, the Jesuit priest who is president of McQuaid Jesuit High School, presided over the ceremony.

Pope Francis is the first member of the worldwide Jesuit order of priests to be elected pope.
