Twenty-two Monroe County school board members, superintendents and school business officials left for Albany Monday morning for two days of meetings with state officials.
They will meet with members of the local legislative delegation and also with senior staff members of the State Senate, Assembly, Division of the Budget, the Governor’s staff and the State Education Department to discuss fiscal issues and legislative priorities concerning public education.
Over the last two years the state has placed new requirements on school districts, including changes to curriculum and testing, changes to school operations, and changes to education funding. The school leaders will talk with state leaders about the impact of these changes and what they believe would help districts operate more effectively.
