Any conversation about jobs and economic growth must start with education -- that's the premise of the new, bold education plan unveiled by Rochester mayoral candidate Lovely Warren Thursday morning.
With the plan, Warren hopes to create a teacher talent pipeline and expand access to high quality schools. She talked about the importance of education and its impact on the future of the city. “We can talk about downtown, we can talk about economic development, we can debate budget issues -- but if our schools continue to fail our children, our city will not survive."
According to the state's Department of Education, less than half of Rochester’s high school students graduate and only six-percent are considered college-ready.
