There are people in Boston witnessing this manhunt for the Boston Marathon suspect first hand. Many are from the Rochester area.

Everyday life for Boston residents remains at a stand still at this hour. Witnesses, many of them, growing up in Rochester, who now call Boston their home, spoke to News10NBC about what they've seen and heard throughout the day.

The entire city has been put on lockdown. People said the mood is eerie and the only people you can see out on the streets are law enforcement officers. Police continue to encourage everyone to stay inside and to not answer their door unless it is law enforcement.

Despite the tragedy this week and the chaotic scene overnight, residents said they still feel safe no matter what. A lot of it is contributed to law enforcement agencies and how they have handled this entire situation.

Even though the two women News10NBC spoke to didn't grow up there, they certainly feel like Boston is home now.

Both women say they have been keeping in touch with friends and family through text messaging and social media.
