Wolcott man dies following crash in Wayne County

A Wolcott man is dead and another person is injured following an early morning crash Saturday in Sodus.

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office tells News10NBC that the crash happen on Route 104 near Bond Road.

Deputies say 52-year-old Richard French was driving eastbound on 104 when his vehicle went off the roadway and struck a tree. Deputies say French was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.

He was taken to Newark-Wayne Community Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Rebekah French, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was also injured and taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment. Hospital officials tell News10NBC she has since been discharged.

Deputies say they are still working to determine a cause for the crash.
