Plans for building a Finger Lakes Boating Museum have hit some rough waters.

The Star-Gazette of Elmira reports that the museum's organizers recently had to vacate their temporary home in Geneva after their partnership with the Ontario County city fell through.

The group has moved its collection of 75 historical boats from the northern end of Seneca Lake to Hammondsport at the southern end of Keuka Lake in Steuben County, where the vessels are stored in a Taylor Wine warehouse.

Ed Wightman, museum vice president, says his group is pursuing other possible locations to display the vessels.

Plans announced in 2009 called for a museum to be built in Geneva, but state funds for the project have dwindled and existing funds were chipped away with fees from architects and consultants.
