Truancy crack down

When students don't attend school, it's money out of your pocket. The superintendent of the Rochester City School District, along with community volunteers, took to the streets Thursday morning to crack down on truancy.

They knocked on doors of students who have a lot of unexcused absences. News10NBC was truancy in Rochester doesn't just impact students' grades. It costs taxpayers about $119 million a year.

There is an attendance hotline you can call if you know a city school student skipping class. The number is 262-8105.
