He is accused of killing a 17-year-old East High School junior and dumping her body in a swimming pool.

Jury selection began Monday afternoon in the trial of Devonte Lively. The district attorney's office tells News10NBC that one juror was selected Monday. Jury selection will continue Tuesday.

Lively is charged with second-degree murder. Police say he killed 17-year-old Larie Butler.

During the trial, we expect to learn a lot more about what happened in March of last year. Investigators still have not revealed a motive in the case but police say Lively was a family acquaintance and that Butler died from upper body trauma.

She was missing for a week before police found her body at the bottom of a swimming pool at a home in Irondequoit.
