Is your local police department on Facebook or Twitter? The Rochester Police Department has been named one of the most social media friendly law enforcement agencies.

According to MPH Programs – a public health advocacy website – the RPD comes in at 47. The department has regular Twitter town hall meetings where you can tweet questions to officers.

Rochester Police Chief James Sheppard said, “What we've learned is that if you're not consistently putting information out, people lose interest in your sites, whether it's Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, you have to consistently put new things in there to keep people coming back to you.”

Fifty agencies were named on the list. The Dallas Police Department came in at number one.
