Motorcycle catches fire on Route 104, operator charged with DWI

A 58-year-old Rochester man is facing DWI charges after his motorcycle caught fire on Route 104.

Police tell News10NBC two troopers were assisting another trooper with a traffic stop on eastbound Route 104 when a concerned citizen pulled over and informed them a motorcycle was on fire on westbound Route 104 and a man was trying to put it out.

According to investigators, when troopers arrived to help the man – Richard Schuldes, he tried to start his motorcycle while it was still smoking. Troopers say they could smell alcohol coming from the man.

Schuldes was subsequently charged with DWI and other vehicle and traffic violations.
