Two Rochester Police officers are being credited for interrupting an assault in progress.
Police say two tactical unit officers, Matt Bennetti and Daryl Pierson, were on routine patrol on Ravine Avenue on Friday evening when they observed two men, 18-year-olds Quamayne Cooper and Brian Johnson, physically assaulting a person with a weapon.
When the two men saw police, they took off. Police were able to take them into custody a short time later.
Cooper and Johnson have been charged with assault and the victim was transported to Rochester General Hospital where he is in guarded condition.
