Two Rochester Police Officers, on patrol to address the recent violence in the 19th Ward, arrested a man who they say had a gun.
Police say officers Kevin Moore and Patrick Giancurso were on patrol on Chili Avenue and Thurston Road early Saturday morning when they spotted a suspicious man. Police say the officers attempted to talk with the man, who was identified as 18-year-old Michael McMurty, of Rochester, but McMurty took off running. Officers were able to apprehend McMurty a short time later.
While investigating, officers discovered McMurty had a handgun in his possession. He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
