Deputies: 44 dogs abandoned in Wyoming County

Sheriff’s deputies say they found 44 abandoned dogs at a property in Wyoming County.

Investigators say the initial report was for 40 to 50 abandoned dogs on Bank Road in the Town of Middlebury. According to deputies, 44 dogs were located – mostly Jack Russell and Chihuahua breed mixes, one was deceased and the others appeared in poor health.

The dogs were taken to the Wyoming County Animal Shelter where they are being cared for.

Deputies say an arrest is pending.
