When you were growing up, did you ever want to be a doctor or a nurse? Some local sixth graders got a very special behind-the-scenes look at healthcare careers Friday morning.

The students from School No. 15 in Rochester stepped out of the classroom this morning as they took a trip to the University of Rochester’s School of Nursing.

The kids had a unique opportunity to learn about careers in physical therapy, nutrition, nursing and medicine.

Sixth grade teacher Eric Williamson said, “Even if you're interested in some other area or you have a talent that you don't necessarily think is going to work in the medical field, that you can find a profession regardless of what you're good at, you can find a way to work that into being successful."

The program is part of engaging students in science and technology-focused learning.
